Lantern Key

ColorlessSpecialSkill

Cost: 0 Energy

Unplayable.
Unlocks a special event in the next Act.

How It Works

Lantern Key is a special unplayable card that serves as a key to unlock a hidden event in the next Act. When you have Lantern Key in your deck, a unique event node will appear on your map, offering powerful rewards in exchange for completing a challenge or making a risky choice.

Since Lantern Key is unplayable, it acts as dead weight in your deck during combat. However, the event it unlocks typically offers high-value rewards like rare relics, upgraded cards, or large amounts of Gold — making it worth the temporary deck bloat.

The Lantern Event

What to Expect

  • • The event appears as a special node (marked with a lantern icon) in the next Act
  • • You'll face a choice: accept a challenge or pay a cost for a reward
  • • Rewards typically include rare relics, upgraded cards, or large Gold payouts
  • • After completing the event, Lantern Key is removed from your deck

Strategy Tips

▸Lantern Key is unplayable — it only exists in your deck to unlock a special event in the next Act.
▸The event it unlocks is typically high-risk, high-reward — expect powerful relics or rare cards as rewards.
▸Since it's unplayable, it dilutes your deck slightly. Only pick it up if the event reward is worth the deck bloat.
▸Best obtained in Act 1 or early Act 2 to maximize the chance of encountering the event.
▸If you have deck-thinning relics (e.g., Peace Pipe, Empty Cage), the downside is minimal.
▸The event is NOT guaranteed to appear — you need to path through the right nodes to trigger it.

When to Pick Lantern Key

✓ Good Situations

  • • Early Act 1 or Act 2 (more time to trigger event)
  • • Have deck-thinning relics (Peace Pipe, Empty Cage)
  • • Deck is already strong and can handle bloat
  • • Need a power spike from rare relics
  • • Playing a class with good card draw

✗ Avoid When

  • • Late Act 3 or Act 4 (may not trigger event)
  • • Deck is already bloated with Curses/Status cards
  • • Struggling with current fights
  • • Low card draw and can't afford dead cards
  • • Already have strong relics
