Hidden Gem

ColorlessRareSkill

Cost: 1 Energy

A random card in your Draw Pile gains Replay 2.

Upgraded: Replay 3

What is Hidden Gem?

Hidden Gem is a colorless rare skill card that costs 1 energy to play. Being a colorless card means it's usable by all five characters in Slay the Spire 2, but there are only specific ways to obtain it.

When played, Hidden Gem grants Replay 2 (or Replay 3 when upgraded) to a random card in your draw pile. This effect is permanent for the rest of your run, making it one of the most powerful value cards in the game.

How Replay Works

Replay Mechanic Explained

Replay is a new effect in Slay the Spire 2 that causes cards to be played additional times based on their Replay value.

Hidden Gem grants Replay 2 on a random card in your draw pile, which means whenever that card is played, it's then played an additional two times for the rest of combat.

Almost any card affected by Hidden Gem will be of huge benefit to you. Even if it lands on a Strike or a Defend — that's still effectively three Strikes or three Defends for the price of one.

Best of all, Hidden Gem will not Exhaust when played, so it's possible to use it as many times as you can draw it in combat. This means you can potentially grant Replay to multiple cards in your deck throughout a run.

Pro Tips

  • ▸Hidden Gem does NOT exhaust when played, so you can use it multiple times per combat if you draw it again.
  • ▸The Replay effect is permanent for the rest of the run, not just the current combat.
  • ▸Power cards benefit the most from Replay — tripling a power's effect is game-changing.
  • ▸Even if it lands on a Strike or Defend, that's still 3x value for a basic card.
  • ▸Decks with multiple power cards can snowball quickly with Hidden Gem.
  • ▸The card it affects is random from your draw pile, so you can't control which card gets Replay.
  • ▸Best used early in a run when you have fewer cards in your deck (higher chance to hit key cards).

  • • Your deck is small (higher chance to hit key cards)
  • • You're early in the run (more combats to benefit)
  • • You have gold to spare at the merchant

✗ Skip It When:

  • • Your deck is bloated (low chance to hit good cards)
  • • You're in Act 3 with few combats remaining
  • • You need immediate impact cards for upcoming boss
  • • Gold is tight and you need relics/removals
